I stumbled upon this small graveyard off the beaten path in Provincetown, MA as the sun was setting. I quickly set up my easel and began painting. Painting a sunset is an exercise in trusting your instincts and employing your training to respond instantly to the fleeting light. There’s no time for ascertaining; you simply say “yes” to everything you notice. “Yes, I see that,” and then get that note on your canvas. I love the intensity.
