Tim has embarked into the cyberworld of art with his online art classes through Landry Academy and soon his own IguanaPaint Online Studio. Students enjoy the high level of teaching offers, and the feedback has been nothing short of enthusiastic.
Tim is teaching three classes at Landry Academy (ART-101, 201, 301). Each class offers personal critique of student assignments, art history, a how-to lesson, and an assignment. Founder Timothy Chambers had a vision for an online art curriculum that could train students with the same respect, discipline, and practicality expected of other educational areas such as the sciences, literature, and so on. He searched high and low for an art curriculum that families could use to supplement their children’s academic studies, that was high quality, systematic in approach, had teachers that are professionals in their art fields (i.e. beyond teaching), and easy to navigate and follow, but was surprised to not find even one. So, He started IguanaPaint.com, Tim’s vision for The World’s Greatest Art Course!
Tim grew up under the tutelage of his father, Bill Chambers, also a full-time professional artist. His dad taught Tim by principle, and the hands-on know-how’s naturally followed. Art requires discipline before style. Music is an excellent parallel: we learn the skills before play songs. Yet, with art, the 20th century saw emotions and feelings become all that was required to call something “art”. What other discipline in life do we apply this standard? Writing? Music? Science? Mathematics? No.
This is what makes IguanaPaint unique. It trains students to see, recognize, process, and execute what they set out to create. If you’re drawing an orange, it will look like an orange! A sycamore tree will look like a sycamore tree! A person like a person! You can learn to draw and paint if you apply yourself with the same tenacity and focus as you do in other areas of your education and life.
Courses offerings cover all skill levels, from beginner to advanced (don’t worry- you cannot outgrow the course!). The IguanaPaint curriculum will help students develop their artistic skills, learn art history, and an appreciation and awareness of beauty to be found everywhere. And guess what else? High school students can earn school credit to prepare for college!
We are currently running trial studies and have a target start date of summer 2011. You can also enjoy Tim’s teaching via Landry Academy’s online courses. Please use the signup form on the left to be notified of IguanaPaint news. We look forward to having learning with you!
