CHILDREN’S WORKSHOP details: REGISTER to be notified of future workshops.

  • Saturday ArtShops feature a different focus each month. These all-day (9-3:30pm) are something your kids will look forward to all winter long. See flier for more details.
  • Introduction to Fundamentals I and II. Children will be introduced to drawing and skills, value, color, perspective, and painting technique in these workshops. Intense, fun, and hands-on learning.
  • Focus on Painting. Building on these topics introduced in Fundamentals I & II, kids will learn about the primary importance of understanding light and shade (values) in art and the visual world, and an introduction to color theory.
  • Focus on Color. Have you ever wondered what color to paint “flesh”? This is an exciting workshop that really opens kids’ eyes up to the wondrous world of color. Tim uses practical tools to help his students move from being intimidated by color to painting boldly.
  • Focus on Landscapes. Kids will join Tim under the blue skies for this workshop as they discover the invigorating experience of painting the beautiful colors of the outdoors.
  • Focus on Portraits. Children love to draw faces, and Tim gives them tools and tips on drawing faces. Kids will practice by drawing portraits of fellow students. A lot of fun and smiles.
  • Focus on the Masters. Children learn a bit of art history as they create their own copy of a painting by a master artist such as Monet, Degas, da Vinci, and others. An age-old practice that can be continued at home

CHILDREN’S WORKSHOP FAQs…

  • Time: Children’s workshops are typically 4-day workshops (2 1/2 hours per day) for ages 10+
  • Adults are welcome to sign up and participate with their children.
  • Cost: All-day ArtShops are $50 + $5 materials. 4-day Workshops are $150 + $20 materials. Families receive discounts for additional children.

PORTRAIT WORKSHOPS

  • Tim loves to teach Painting the Portrait Outdoors to those looking for the ultimate challenge in portraiture. If the highest art is to capture the glory of God’s creation- people, then to do so under the beautiful light and color of outdoors is the epitome of painting. Join Tim as he shares tips on form, color, anatomy, rhythm, and did I say color? Splendid color! This workshop is a treat and your biggest achievement as an artist. Workshops can be 3, 4, or 5-day in length, and can be held anywhere. Consider making a vacation of it! For a sample workshop agenda, click the link in the column on the left.
