What age is the youngest that can participate in your adult Portrait Workshops?
I have had students as young as 13 years attend and really enjoy it. If your child has had both the experience and desire to draw or paint portraits, and is able to stay focused, then they'll do great!

I live in Oakville, Ontario Canada. I recently bought one of your instruction books, How to Paint Portraits. I really enjoy the book and am finding it very helpful in my learning. One of the tools you suggest using is a caliper for measuring. I have called all our local art stores and cannot find such a tool. Can you give me some information on where I can purchase one? Thank you very much. Millie Rogers
I'm glad you're enjoying How to Paint Portraits! The calipers I use is called a 'proportional dividers". It's a tool used by engineers and architects, though it's almost ancient since they all use computers nowadays. However, you can find proportional dividers online pretty easily. A Google search for 'proportional dividers' turned up results at ebay.com, amazon.com, tigersupplies.com, and others. You'll want a 10" set; anything shorter makes for more work and is less versatile (but then it may be more affordable and better than nothing!). Scout around. You may be able to find a used one from an architect or engineer.
